20 stars for 2021 | Jed Cartwright

Jed Cartwright signed with the South Sydney Rabbitohs mid-season in 2020 and so far, it’s been an extremely good move.

Cartwright, the son of True Blue John Cartwright and cousin of Parramatta Eels player Bryce Cartwright, played a single game for the Penrith Panthers in 2019, coming off the bench in a 24-2 win over the Gold Coast Titans.

Wayne Bennett brought him to Redfern and gave the then 23-year-old his debut against the Wests Tigers.

Standing at 194cm tall and weighing 104kg, Cartwright can play both in the second row and in the centres and proved to be a valuable asset to the Rabbitohs at the backend of the year.

It’s one thing earning your debut, but he played in all three finals games the Rabbitohs’ played in this year which makes up for 50% of his career games. This would hint that Bennett will be regularly using Cartwright in first grade next year.

The Rabbitohs recently allowed Bayley Sironen to pursue an opportunity at the Warriors and Ethan Lowe retired from the game which makes Cartwright’s job even more important next year given they all play in the same position.
