The NSW Women's Koori have edged out Queensland's Murri in a selection trial for the Indigenous Women's All Stars, defeating their opponents 28-24 at Mascot Oval.

The match, attended by Indigenous Women's All Stars coach Dean Widders, featured several stars of the Women's Interstate Challenge played in August, which NSW won for the first time ever. Caitlin Moran, Nakia Davis-Welsh, Lavina Phillips, Rebecca Young and Rebecca Riley all lined up for the Koori as they defeated their interstate rivals. The NSW side, coached by Danny Ellende, were marginally too good for Queensland in the back-and-forth contest.

The game will determine the make-up of the side to take on the Women's All Stars as part of the Harvey Norman Rugby League All Stars event to be held in Newcastle on 10 February. That team is to be announced this afternoon.
