The Penrith Panthers are the 2017 Intrust Super Premiership Champions, having got over minor premiers the Wyong Roos 20-12 at Leichhardt Oval.
A quick look at the stats shows that the Panthers had just a slight edge throughout the match; they had 51 per cent of possession, more metres (1,591) than Wyong (1,398), they won the penalty count 6-3 and were forced into slightly fewer tackles (310 to the Roos' 345). Both sides notched up three line-breaks and had an above-average missed tackle count - but the Roos' 47 misses was worse than the Panthers' 35.
Ultimately, Maika Sivo's impressive try on half-time sparked Garth Brennan's men, who would cross twice more in the opening six minutes of the second half before scoring a final try through Jed Cartwright. Penrith lock Sione Katoa notched the most individual running metres (159), while Mitch Rein made a game-high 44 tackles. While few would claim it was the Panthers' best showing of the season, they did what was required to take out the title - and still have room for improvement ahead of their Intrust Super State Championship match against the PNG Hunters.
