The meme that Demi Fittler showed her Dad ahead of Origin II.

Brad Fittler is known for his left field techniques, but it was some wise words from his daughter Demi that helped inspire the Blues to a 38-6 thumping in Perth.

Faced with criticism from all angles after losing Origin I in Brisbane and making seven changes to the team, some advice from his daughter via social media platform Pinterest helped him block out the relentless noise that didn’t stop until after the game.

“With the criticism, I got some really good advice off my daughter Demi,” Fittler said.

“I came home, and she said ‘Dad, you shouldn’t accept criticism off anyone that you wouldn’t accept praise off.’

“I said ‘that’s wonderful, where’d you hear that from?’

“She said ‘Pinterest.’”

Pinterest is a social media web and mobile application company that has reached 300 million active monthly users.

Their CEO Ben Silbermann described the company as a catalogue of ideas.

But Fittler was more in touch with the youth when describing how Demi saw the quote.

“It’s a meme.”
