Although the nickname ‘The Brick with Eyes’ doesn’t inspire a skilful, match-savvy front rower, that’s exactly the type of footballer Lazarus was. That talent could be seen from winning five premierships at three different clubs (Raiders 1989-90, Broncos 1992-93 and Storm 1999). He was a tough-as-teak front rower – lauded as the best in the world - whose tireless work rate laid the platform for his team’s success and he was part of the first NSW Blues teams that won three consecutive series from 1992-94. From his 254 club games, only 11 were off the bench.
