If rugby league fans are looking for an early dose of grand final action this weekend, then the 2014 NSWRL Grand Final Day is their answer.
Go ‘back to the future’, savour a sausage sanga or two and enjoy a feast of afternoon football at the retro-themed Grand Final Day extravaganza, this Sunday at Allianz Stadium.
The 2014 NSWRL Grand Final Day triple treat promises to be a great day out for footy fans young and old – and the best news for fans is tickets are retro-priced too at just $10 for adults, $5 for children and $30 for families.
Be part of a celebration of rugby league and witness history as three grand finals – the VB NSW Cup, the Ron Massey Cup and the Sydney Shield – are contested in more than six hours of excitement, entertainment and athleticism.
The main game pits the Penrith Panthers, who finished the regular season in first place, against the never-say-die Newcastle Knights – and good mates Garth Brennan (Penrith) and Rick Stone (Newcastle) in the coaches’ boxes too.
The Ron Massey Cup decider features last year’s runners-up Mounties and The Entrance Tigers while the Sydney Shield pits Mounties against the East Campbelltown Eagles.
The day of celebrations isn’t limited to the playing field though – there are a range of activities to keep the young and young-at-heart entertained throughout the afternoon. Included in the cost of admission are fan favourites like ‘pass the ball’, face painting, a jumping castle, bungee run, balloon artists, a petting zoo, a DJ blasting out old-school tunes and more. Finalists in Channel 9’s hit show The Voice, R ‘n’ B soul team ZK, are scheduled to perform the national anthem.
Fans will also be given an opportunity to meet retired rugby league legends including Laurie Daley, Danny Buderus, Michael Vella, Mick Crocker and Luke Burt and have their photos taken with some of the game’s most celebrated silverware including the State of Origin Shield.
Tickets to the 2014 NSWRL Grand Final Day are general admission only, with no reserved seating meaning great viewing positions can be obtained by early entrants.
Come along to this year’s 2014 NSWRL Grand Final Day, watch three great rugby league grand finals and join in the afternoon-footy fun.
