Trent Barrett, Laurie Daley and Matt Moylan have joined representatives from both the Country Rugby League and New South Wales Rugby League to announce McDonalds Park, Wagga Wagga as the venue to host the 2015 AAMI Country vs. City Origin clash on Sunday, 3 May 2015.
Present at today’s launch were CRL CEO Terry Quinn, NSWRL CEO Dave Trodden, Acting Chairman CRL John Anderson, NSWRL Chairman Dr George Peponis, Wagga Wagga Council Deputy Mayor Councillor Dallas Tout and Wagga Wagga Rugby League President Steve Kimball.
NSW VB Blues head coach Laurie Daley was also on hand in Wagga Wagga and can’t wait to see some more potential Origin stars emerge from this fixture.
“It is an exciting time for rugby league in our state at the moment,” Mr Daley said.
“This year’s fixture in Dubbo once again showed the continued relevance of this match with the likes of Dylan Walker, David Klemmer, Matt Moylan and Josh Jackson all going on to be involved in the Kangaroos Four Nations campaign at the end of the year.
“Matt Moylan, who was here with us today, is someone who I will be keeping a very close eye on next year in the lead up to the 2015 State of Origin series given that we are now on the lookout for a fullback to replace Jarryd Hayne.
“Matty, like many others set to pull on the Country and City jersey, could potentially use this fixture to push their claims for Origin selection so personally I am really excited to get back out here in May and see the boys go at it.”
Moylan and Barrett donned high-vis work vests and hard hats and visited the under-construction grandstand to mark the announcement.
Tickets will go on sale early season 2015 with details to be provided shortly.
