Wollongong-raised Rod Wishart – a Steelers, St George Illawarra, NSW and Australian rugby league legend – was a winger ahead of his time.
Strong as an ox, tough as nails and one who charged at the defensive line like a wounded bull, Wishart finished as one of the best finishers of the 1990s – and arguably one of the finest in rugby league history.
A sharp-shooting goal-kicker, Wishart retired as one of the NSW Blues’ best (22 Origin matches), a Kangaroos veteran (22 Tests for Australia) and likely the greatest Steeler of all time (154 matches; 1044 points for the club; record-holder across points in a match, points in a season, tries for the club and more).
Watch the video above for an exclusive interview with Rod, as well as highlights from his playing days and an insight into how he almost made it to Hollywood - and what he does with himself these days.
