An elated Aaron Woods has spoken about the VB Blues' dominant 28-4 victory over the Queensland Maroons at Suncorps Stadium, emphasising the speed of the game and the team's desperation in defence.

"Happy to get the win - it was one of the quickest first 20-25 minutes I've ever played in my life," Woods tells NSWRL.com.au. "It's a massive credit to the defensive unit that we had - the boys were just so desperate tonight."

Woods, who made 136 metres and 18 tackles in his 36 minutes on the field, was also quick to sing the praises of Man of the Match Andrew Fifita.

"I'm so happy for him. He had a tough past 12-18 months," Woods says. "He's a player that shouldn't be a front-rower because he does things that wingers do.

"I've known him for a long time and the head space that he's in at the moment is unbelievable."
