NSW VB Blues captain Boyd Cordner has been rested from the Sydney Roosters' clash with the Wests Tigers today, citing a knee concern.
While the omission comes as a shock to Roosters and VB Blues fans alike, coach Trent Robinson suggested that the injury is not of a serious nature.
"It's more of a case of his knee," Robinson told Channel Nine. "It's not an acute injury, but more that the load of two games last week was too much.
"If we want him long term, we're going to need to get him out of some games."
Robinson went on to explain that Cordner was rested throughout the week but did not recover fully to be a part of this afternoon's game.
While VB Blues coach Laurie Daley will consider the second-rower's fitness when selecting his side for Origin II tomorrow night, it appears unlikely that the niggling injury will affect his hopes of lining up at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday, 21 June. The team will be announced on NSWRL.com.au at 6pm AEST tomorrow.
