A rumour sent the Rugby League rumour mill overdrive this morning - but the high-profile player in question has quickly put it to bed.
As news emerged that Jarryd Hayne had asked his manager to seek opportunities at Sydney clubs, with a view to leave the Gold Coast Titans just months after signing a one-year contract extension. Given Hayne's standing as a marquee man for the Gold Coast club - which recently appointed a new coach, who would be tasked with getting the most out of the incumbent NSW Blues centre - many in the media and public alike were quick to criticise his supposed decision. It prompted a fiery response from Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga and a swift denial from the Titans club.
This afternoon, the man himself emphatically denied the rumours.
"I have NOT instructed my manager to speak to teams in Sydney," Hayne said in a Tweet.
Hayne will continue to focus on Fiji's Rugby League World Cup campaign, as he prepares to repeat his dominant personal performance which saw the Bati prevail in Week 1. Fiji will next take on Wales on Sunday from 7:30pm AEDT at Townsville Stadium.
