The Canberra Raiders have signed former Newcastle Knights prop JJ Collins on a two-year deal commencing 2019.
Collins, who represented the NSW Residents this year, joined the Newcastle Knights from the Wests Tigers mid-way through the 2017 season and has now re-located to his third city since June to join pre-season with his new Canberra Raiders teammates.
The 22-year-old has played 15 NRL matches for the Wests Tigers and Knights since making his debut in 2016 and will look to better that number with the Raiders.
The Logan Brothers junior said he's excited about the challenge that lies ahead and he's looking forward to training with what he described as a very talented squad.
"It's great to be here, the team have been very welcoming on the first day," Collins said. "When the opportunity came to move down here, I jumped at it because of the history and tradition that this Club has but also because of the talent within the playing group.
Canberra Raiders recruitment and High-Performance Director Peter Mulholland said the signing of Collins added another quality middle unit player to the squad.
"JJ is a quality middle-unit player who gives us some more depth up front," Mulholland said. "He's still only 22 and has plenty of development ahead of him and we know he can be a valuable member of our squad."
