Brad Fittler had no shortage of skills on the football field but the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues coach unearthed a new one during a visit to the PCYC in Orange.
Fittler and True Blues Danny Buderus, Steve Menzies and Beau Scott were at the PCYC for a Fit for Life boxing for fitness session when his eyes caught sight of a trampoline.
The Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues coach climbed up and performed three backflips (including two in a row) to the surprise of the children, police and NSWRL support staff who had gathered to watch.
“When I was in Year 7 a friend of ours, one of the girls, was a state trampoline champion so we used to knock around her house and go on the tramp,” Fittler told nswrl.com.au
“I went into a competition and the competition routine was back somersault, front somersault, back somersault and on the front somersault I went straight off the tramp and hit the ground.
“I ran because I got embarrassed and ran around the corner and giggled for 10 minutes.”
And what did he think of his form on Wednesday?
“I landed in a good spot and I was ready for a couple more but I thought, "If I show off here the ego might get the better of me and I might come off",” Fittler said.
“The front somersault I’ve still got nightmares with from when I was 12. I can do one on its own but not after a backflip.”
