NSWRL recognise coaching volunteers

NSWRL has recognised the contribution that coaches make to their team by awarding the NSWRL Junior League Coach of the Year (male and female).

The 2019 award winners - Rebecca Scott from Hinchinbrook Hornets and Jaimie Dale from Botany Rams - each received four tickets to the State of Origin as well as a State of Origin Jersey, beanie and scarf to wear to the Game Three-decider in Sydney on 10 July.

Scott, who played for Wentworthville in the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership competition last year, has been coaching the Hinchinbrook side for four years.

The team is consistently improving, with Scott teaching her team the basic fundamental skills of Rugby League to ensure her players are well prepared on game day.

Dale, nominated for his ability to teach his team how to succeed both on and off the field, is said to take great pleasure in helping develop players to achieve their goals of making higher division teams.

Team Manager Vicki Macbeth said: “Jamie does not just coach, he has created a fantastic culture within his team that they all want to play for each other. 13W are not just a footy team we are a family.”
