The Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership is now down to four and a coveted Grand Final spot is on the line this weekend in the penultimate week of the 2019 finals series.
Both Preliminary Final fixtures will be played at Leichhardt Oval, with the Mounties taking on a red-hot Wests Tigers outfit at 10.00am while CRL Newcastle and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks do battle in a blockbuster clash at 11.30am.
The Tigers will be looking to continue their run of outstanding finals form after recording a 22-16 upset against the second-placed competition heavyweights in the Bears - who boasted NSW Women’s Origin representatives in Shontelle Stowers and dynamic playmaker Kirra Dibb.
The Tigers, led by Botille Vette-Welsh, will face their biggest challenge of the season as they face minor premiers, Mounties, who are fresh from a week off and have only suffered one defeat in 2019.
The Mounties are captained by the inspirational Simaima Taufa who ignited a hard-fought 20-14 victory over the Sharks in the first week of the finals with an incredible two-try performance.
The second of Saturday’s grand final qualifiers features a star-studded matchup between CRL Newcastle - featuring 2018 Golden Boot winner Isabelle Kelly and fellow New South Wales representatives Kylie Hilder, Hannah Southwell and Holli Wheeler - and the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.
The Sharks are captained by fullback Corban McGregor with Maddie Studdon steering them around the park in the No. 7 jersey and experienced campaigner Ruan Sims in the front row.
With a host of NSW Women’s Origin and Jillaroos representatives converging on Leichhardt Oval on Saturday for a place in the 2019 grand final, fans will certainly be in for an action-packed double-header of sudden death football.
