Preview | Jersey Flegg Cup Grand Final 2019

All the action previewed ahead of a blockbuster Jersey Flegg Cup Grand Final between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canberra Raiders.

South Sydney Rabbitohs v Canberra Raiders

Sunday 28 September

Bankwest Stadium

Both the Canberra Raiders and the South Sydney Rabbitohs had to contend with nail-biting matches in the 2019 Jersey Flegg Cup finals series but they have fought their way through to the Grand Final in what promises to be an epic 4th vs 5th fixture.

The Cronulla Sharks, who finished as Minor Premier, fell extra-time victims to both Grand Final teams as they toppled out in straight sets, before the Raiders and Rabbitohs claimed another top four scalp each to qualify for the finale.

CAPTAIN'S CALL | Nick Mougios

The teams only met once this year, with the Rabbitohs winning 28-12. Both sides enter the final in good form, with the Rabbitohs winning their past four games, and the Raiders with five consecutive victories.

Canberra had a mixed start to the season, winning only three of their first six games, before a 56-4 thumping of Manly set the wheels in motion for four big wins in a row, kick-starting their season and setting up a top four finish.

CAPTAIN'S CALL | Toby Westcott and Darby Medlyn

The Rabbitohs began the season with two draws, before only losing one game until Round 12. One of those draws turned out to be the only difference between Souths and Canberra this year, as they missed out on a top four spot by just one point.
