The Finals of the Group 16 Women's Nines Tackle Competition will be held at the Tathra Country Club this Saturday, with a record number of players and teams set to participate.
This year’s competition has been an outstanding success and has seen 22 teams and over 250 participants competing in the newly-formed tackle version of the game.
All teams will again feature in this week’s final round, with the top teams in each division playing off for their chance to claim premiership honours.
In Under 12s, the Narooma Devils will play the Bega Roosters Blue Team, the Narooma Devils Under 14s will play host to the Tathra Sea Eagles while the Narooma Devils will face the Bega Roosters in the Under-16s Final. In the Open Women's division, the surprise packets of the competition, Candelo-Bemboka United will play the Cooma Stallions.
“The women's tackle competition, although only in its second year has Group 16 Rugby League officials excited after the selection of four players in the Canberra Raiders Representative Under-18s Tarsha Gale Representative Squad,” Group 16 Chairman Allan Wilton said.
“Jess Crane, Holly Christensen and Molly Crane from the Bega Roosters and Mikala Morris from the Narooma Devils have been included after Canberra Raiders representatives attended recent games.
“15-year-old’s Carissa Badulovich from Bega Roosters and Merimbula-Pambula Bulldog’s Crysten Kennedy have also been included in the Canberra Raiders Development Squad.
“This really fits in well with the development of Women's Tackle Rugby League in the Group 16 area and creates pathways and the opportunities for our many talented players.”
The games will commence at 10:00am this Saturday.
