Sydney Shield Rd 5 | Rams school Sydney Uni

Round five of the Sydney Shield competition kicks off.

Moorebank Rams 40 def Sydney University 6

The Moorebank Rams have put on a clinic this afternoon at Hammondville Oval, smashing Sydney University 40-6.

Centre Iverson Fuatimau opened the scoring in just the third minute before a 15 minute period of tough Rugby League without any points scored.

Laitia Moceidreke scored next for the Rams in the 21st minute, but it would be the two late first half tries to Kurtis Morrin and Johnny Lee Gabrael that put a huge dent into the confidence of Sydney University.

Down 20-0 at half time, Sydney University had to be the next team to score and that's exactly what they did when their halfback Josh Natoli broke the duck.

From there though it would be all Moorebank with Morrin, Gabrael and Moceidreke all scoring another try for themselves as well as fullback Jake Horton crossing the white line to maker it 40-6.

Hills District Bulls 42 def Cronulla Caringbah Sharks 16

The Hills District Bulls absolutely dominated the Cronulla Caringbah Sharks 42-16 in an epic Sydney Shield performance on Saturday afternoon.

It was the running of the bulls right from the first whistle, when second-rower David Baumann scored a four-pointer in the first five minutes, followed by a successful conversion from trusty hooker Mitchell Hyde.

Teammates Daylen Meredith and Cameron Akauola Laula followed closely behind, bagging their own tries within four minutes of each other, putting the Bulls up 16-0 in the first 13 minutes.

Sharks bit back by scoring a try in the 16th minute, only to be chased straight after by Hills number nine to deliver his own try.

Cat and mouse chasing of tries back and forth between both teams occured in the first 20 minutes of the game but once the score gap widened to 32-10 at the 25-minute mark, the Sharks were treading in deep, dark waters.

Hills winger Daylen Meredith scored his fourth and final try for the day at the 36th minute, when the Bulls finally showed mercy to the Sharks and ended their try-scoring streak with a 42-10 lead.

Cronulla’s Kruse Robinson pushed through the Bulls defence line to redeem his side in an unforgiving battle, but at the end of the match the Bulls came out way too strong on a 42-16 triumph.
