A top of the table thriller between the Belrose Eagles and the Ryde Eastwood Hawks headlines the Sydney Shield this week.
The two teams have been utterly dominant in the competition so far with only one loss between them when the Hawks went down to the Cronulla Caringbah Sharks in Round 4.
Belrose has set the defensive benchmark for the competition this season, conceding only 48 points in the five games played in what is historically a high-scoring competition. On the other hand, the Hawks have scored more points than any other team this year.
The attack versus defence battle will be interesting and if the Hawks do manage to win this weekend, they will jump Belrose on the ladder to be outright first.
In other games, third placed Cronulla Caringbah take on Sydney University, fourth placed Helensburgh play the winless East Campbelltown, while the last-placed Wentworthville Magpies try to get their first win of the season against the Moorebank Rams.
