Helensburgh Tigers 26 def Belrose Eagles 6
Helensburgh have jumped the Moorebank Rams on the ladder to take the last finals spot in the Sydney Shield ladder after a 26-6 victory against the Belrose Eagles.
Moorebank entered the round ahead of the Helensburgh by one competition point but remarkably went down to the lower-placed Hills District Bulls 40-0.
The Ryde Eastwood-Hawks had the bye this week but wrapped up the minor premiership last round. They will play today’s victors, Helensburgh, in a Grand Final qualifier next week at Leichhardt Oval at 1.30pm.
Cronulla-Caringbah will play Belrose in the other final next week after finishing second and third respectively, with that game to be also played at Leichhardt Oval at 6.30pm.
Helensburgh will take plenty of confidence into the finals next week after today’s fairly dominant win against the third-placed Belrose Eagles.
They scored four tries to one thanks to a dominant display by halfback Harrison Geraghty who went over for two tries.
Winger William Russell had a wonderful day out too, scoring 14 out of the 26 points with a try, four conversions and a penalty goal.
