Everything you need to know: Ampol State of Origin 2020

It all comes down to game three of the series after Wayne Bennett's underdog Queensland team won the first match and NSW avenged that upset Adelaide Oval loss in the return bout in Sydney.

  • Game three tickets are selling fast. Be a part of the largest crowd in the world since lockdown!

NSW must now repeat the dose at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday to complete a three-peat of Ampol State of Origin series wins.

Or can the Maroons bounce back from their 34-10 loss in game two and regain the shield in front of their adoring fans.

The showpiece series is taking place at the end of the season for the first time due to the effects of COVID-19.

The opening clash was a high-intensity affair, with NSW leading 10-0 at half-time before the Maroons seized the momentum and quickly overhauled their foes once play resumed.

Queensland captain Daly Cherry-Evans was crowned the first man of the match while centres Kurt Capewell and Dane Gagai also starred.

Game two was the opposite with the Maroons drawing first blood before the Blues swamped them with six tries with halfback Nathan Cleary voted the best on ground.

Iconic Australian fuel brand Ampol has taken over as naming rights partner of the men's series this year after Holden's collapse. Ampol will then sponsor both the men's and women's series from 2021-23.

Women's State of Origin

The Harvey Norman Women's State of Origin clash took place at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Friday, November 13 with Queensland defeating NSW.

The Blues had won the past four interstate fixtures.

The match was officially been declared a sellout with all tickets snapped up by Thursday afternoon.

Qld Maroons v NSW Women

"Harvey Norman Women’s State of Origin is incredibly important to us. We’re delighted to be able to make history on the Sunshine Coast tomorrow, playing the first Women’s Origin in Queensland," NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said.

"The Commission made it a priority this year to ensure we completed our entire elite women’s schedule, as well as the men, and we’re proud that despite the challenges of COVID we’ll achieve that goal.

"I want to thank the Sunshine Coast community for their support of rugby league this year. Firstly, hosting our Premiers the Melbourne Storm and now reaching our venue capacity for Women’s Origin.

"The Sunshine Coast will be beamed live into households across the country tomorrow night, that’s excellent exposure for a tourist centre like the Sunshine Coast."
