The NSWRL is thrilled to announce the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues will don the classic sky blue jersey for all three Ampol State of Origin games this season following the move to partner with global sports giant PUMA.
With tomorrow marking only 50 days to go before the opening game of the series at the MCG on Wednesday 9 June, fans are being encouraged to show their support as the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues look to reclaim the Shield.
“The NSWRL was thrilled to partner with global sporting giant PUMA this year and the traditional jersey they have designed for the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues is sure to resonate with our fans,” NSWRL Chief Commercial Officer Jodie Cross said.
“The classic sky blue colour and the chevron pay respect to our history which dates back to 1908 and also reflects the core values of the team which include mateship, loyalty, work ethic and discipline.
“The Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues will wear the classic strip for our matches in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this year and I urge all our fans to get behind it and show their support.
“There would be no better sight for our boys than running out on to the MCG for Game One and seeing all Blatchys Blues supporters donning the classic blue strip and iconic blue wig.”
PUMA Oceania General Manager, Pancho Gutstein, said the new jersey would hopefully give the Blues a winning edge during the series.
“The Official 2021 NSW Blues Home Jersey combines peak performance technology with super lightweight stretch fit fabric,” Gutstein said.
“The dryCELL moisture-controlling technology is a highly functional material that draws sweat away from skin, keeping athletes on top of their game.
“The new modern sublimated design is complete with official badges and sponsors ensuring maximum brand exposure while being the perfect combination of style and movement.”
Following the series opener in Melbourne, Game Two will be played at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Sunday 27 June and Game Three will be at the Blues fortress of Stadium Australia on Wednesday 14 July.
To promote Game One, Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues winger Josh Addo-Carr donned the new strip and climbed atop the MCG which he hopes to see awash as a sea of blue in June.
“Playing for the Blues is something I always cherish, and the new jersey looks and feels amazing,” Addo-Carr said.
“There’s not long to go before the series starts and I can’t wait to get out there and rip in and make all NSW fans proud.”
To celebrate the unveiling of the new jersey, PUMA commissioned world-renowned clay artist Jay Huang @clayartisanjay to create four unique sculptures of Josh Addo-Carr, Tyson Frizell, Clint Gutherson and Jack Wighton.
Jay has created work previously for other champion sports stars from the Puma stable in Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr and basketballer LaMelo Ball, as well as other sporting champions in basketballer LeBron James and Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah.
