Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues Mitchell Moses halfback played through the pain barrier for more than 70 minutes of Game Three of the Ampol State of Origin series after it was revealed tonight the Parramatta Eels No.7 would be out for an indefinite period with a fractured back.
Moses was rested for the Eels win over the Gold Coast last round and went for scans which revealed the extent of the damage. It is understood he suffered the injury in the seventh minute of Origin III after being crunched in a tackle by Queensland backrower Felise Kaufusi during the 20-18 loss at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast.
Moses, who had been called into the NSW team to make his debut after Nathan Cleary was ruled out with a shoulder injury, managed to see out the game where he set up two tries, had a line break assist and kicked for 389 metres.
“I was really happy with Mitchell Moses,” Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues Brad Fittler said after Game Three. “I thought his defence was fantastic, they threw a lot at him.”
The Eels have been unable to confirm when Moses will return to the field with only seven rounds remaining before the finals.
