Former Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs SG Ball Cup and South Sydney Rabbitohs Under 20s product Jordan Mailata has taken a giant step forward in his NFL career after being promoted to the Philadelphia Eagles’ starting side for their week one clash against Atlanta Falcons on September 13.
The 24-year-old Bankstown product, who is into his fourth season after being recruited by the Eagles at pick 233 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, has been rewarded for switching codes with a starting role in the offensive line at Left Tackle.
Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni confirmed the news of Mailata’s week one selection earlier this week.
"Jordan had a great camp, Andre (Dillard) had a great camp,” Sirianni said.
“Andre missed some time and during that time, the chemistry with the offensive line was able to build – Jordan did a good job winning that position.”
Standing at six-foot-eight and weighing in at 165kg, Mailata’s position is arguably the most crucial role for any NFL offense – protecting the blindside of his quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
Reports suggest Mailata, jersey #68, is currently on a contract of around US$1.2 million per season, however as a starting Left Tackle he could earn in excess of US$20 million per season when he signs his next contract.
The NSWRL congratulates Jordan on receiving the starting role and wish him success for the 2021 NFL season and beyond.
