Phil Blake’s long standing record of most tries in a season for Manly could well be broken next Friday night in Brisbane.
Blake set the record of 27 tries playing half-back for Manly in the 1983 NSWRL competition, including finals.
However that record may well fall to brilliant full-back Tom Trbojevic in the Telstra Premiership Preliminary Final against South Sydney at Suncorp Stadium.
A two try haul by Trbojevic in last night's 42-6 win over the Sydney Roosters has seen him join Blake on 27 tries. Trbojevic has scored five hat-tricks this season.
Trbojevic's 27 tries also saw him break the record of most tries in a season by a full-back of 26 set by Penrith's Rhys Wesser in 2003.
Blake's record is under double threat with electrifying winger Jason Saab now one behind the pair on 26 tries after also crossing against the Roosters.
