Parramatta Eels prop Junior Paulo joins fellow True Blue Clint Gutherson as co-captain of the club as announced today on parraeels.com.au
Paulo made his NRL debut in the blue and gold in 2013 after playing in their U20s side in the two years prior. He would go on to play 53 games for the club in his first stint, before signing with Canberra Raiders in 2016, and finally making his return to Parramatta in 2019.
Since returning to the Eels, Paulo’s work rate and incredible offloading ability catapulted him to State of Origin honours in 2020 and 2021, where he played an integral role in the historic series win.
Paulo has been a leader of the Eels pack over the past three years and has helped lead them to three consecutive finals appearances, including two top four finishes.
The Samoan International now joins several other Origin teammates and True Blues as captains of their respective clubs including James Tedesco, Nathan Cleary and Isaah Yeo, Cam Murray, Wade Graham, Josh Jackson, Adam Reynolds and James Tamou.
It was another stellar year for Paulo in 2021 after he scored two tries, 46 offloads (3rd) with an average of 11.5 hit ups, 1.8 tackle and 128 metres per game.
