A Saturday triple-header from BlueBet Stadium in Penrith headlines a bumper Round 2 of Junior Reps, along with all 10 matches of the SLE Andrew Johns and Laurie Daley Cups, streamed live and exclusively on NSWRL TV.
The weekend’s games kick off at 10 am on Saturday with Newcastle Knights taking on Monaro Colts at Cessnock Sports Ground and Northern Rivers Titans playing host to North Coast Bulldogs in the SLE Andrew Johns Cup.
That will be followed by the corresponding SLE Laurie Daley Cup fixtures from 11.20 am. The other teams to feature on Saturday’s live stream include Illawarra South Coast Dragons and Macarthur Wests Tigers in Gerringong from 11 am, and Greater Northern Tigers against Central Coast Roosters from midday in Singleton.
The action from Penrith begins at 10.30 am as the Panthers face off against the North Sydney Bears in the Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup, before the home side goes head to head with Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in the Harold Matthews Cup and SG Ball Cup.
Two Sunday morning matches complete the Round 2 schedule from 10 am when the Western Rams meet Riverina Bulls in the Johns Cup and Daley Cup at Henry Lawson Oval, Grenfell.
Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup
The Panthers and Bears enter Round 2 looking to kickstart their 2022 campaigns after suffering defeat in the opening week competition, against Wests Tigers and the Newcastle Knights respectively.
Both sides conceded three or more second half tries in Round 1 after keeping pace with their opponents in the opening stanza. Going into tomorrow’s clash, the team that best manages the closing stages could very well secure their first win of the season as a result.
Harold Matthews and SG Ball Cup
The Under 16 and Under 18 Panthers teams are coming off Round 1 wins, but in very different fashion.
The Harold Matthews side were four tries apiece with Central Coast Roosters, and could only be separated by a 27th minute conversion courtesy of Jett Cleary, the younger brother of Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues halfback, Nathan. In the SG Ball Cup the Panthers were too dominant for Victoria Thunderbolts on the way to a 46-0 shutout.
Meanwhile, the Sharks head to BlueBet Stadium on the back of a 30-10 win over Illawarra Steelers, with the SG Ball Cup team hoping to earn two competition points after a 28-16 defeat.
SLE Johns and Daley Cup
The Johns Cup on Saturday sees Northern Tigers, Central Coast, Northern Rivers Titans, Monaro Colts and Illawarra SC Dragons looking to go 2-0 in as many weeks, while the North Coast Bulldogs, Knights, Macarthur Wests Tigers will be aiming to change their fortunes from the opening round.
In the Daley Cup two of the three victors from the Southern Conference in Round 1 – Illawarra South Coast Dragons and Macarthur Wests Tigers – face one another to decide who can stay atop the Conference table, as Monaro Colts also look for their second win when they take on Newcastle.
On Sunday, both the Johns and Daley Cup teams for Western Rams and Riverina will need a need win to start their 2022 winning tally.
