The forward production line at the Penrith Panthers isn’t going to stop anytime soon after claiming four Premierships from five grades in 2022, and Harrison Hassett is one of the back-rowers to keep an eye on from the UNE SG Ball Cup-winning side.
Hassett was explosive on the Penrith edge after scoring six tries and busting 29 tackles from 10 games to help put them on the path to Grand Final success.
Lifting the Under 19s trophy wasn’t the only highlight from what would be a stellar season for the Panthers’ SG Ball Cup Player of the Year.
Hassett was later named in the second row for City in the CABE Country v City Under 18s clash at 4 Pine Park, setting up three four-pointers in their 42-18 win and taking home Player of the Match honours.
The St Marys junior kept his form going to represent NSW CHS Under 18s, who were runners-up in the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League (ASSRL) National Championships in July.
Hassett capped off a brilliant season by gaining selection in the Australian Schoolboys’ 50th anniversary touring squad, going on to beat Fiji 58-13 at Suva’s Albert Park just a few months later.
It was a packed calendar for Hassett in 2022, who continued to prove himself as one of NSW’s top talents in his age group.
He even caught the eye of NSW Pathways selectors when he took part in the 2022 Junior Blues camp at the Ignite HQ NSWRL Centre of Excellence in November.
That was just another step towards an exciting future for the Penrith local junior.
