NSW Blues urge fans to own next slice of Origin history

There are less than 50 days to go until the Ampol State of Origin series kicks off and the Westpac NSW Blues are calling on all fans to join in all the action and experience the most intense sporting rivalry in Australia.

Since the Origin concept started in 1980, there has been no shortage of highlights provided by the mighty NSW Blues. The NSWRL has found some of the best, the most memorable and even the funniest moments to encourage fans to secure their seats now and ensure they are part of the next slice of history. The moments will be rolled out on the NSW Blues social pages from today until the series kicks off so make sure you check them out.

Who can forget when legendary halfback Steve Mortimer sank to the ground and kissed the SCG turf to celebrate NSW’s first ever Origin series victory in 1985? Or when unheralded NSW No.7 Trent Hodkinson threw a dummy and scored at Accor Stadium in 2014 to end Queensland’s winning streak? Or when Blake Ferguson made a dash down the sideline before turning a ball back inside for James Tedesco to score in the final minute and secure an epic series win for the Blues in 2019?

“NSW has the most passionate supporters, and it always means a lot to myself and the players to see them in the stands cheering us on,” Westpac NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler said.

“Origin is one of the toughest games you can ever play, and I urge all fans to get their tickets now and help us return the Shield to NSW where it belongs.”

The Blues open their Origin campaign with Game One at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on Wednesday 31 May, head to Queensland for Game Two at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on Wednesday 21 June, and then return home for Game Three at Accor Stadium, Sydney on Wednesday 12 July.

This series will mark the first time since 2017 that all three State of Origin games have been played on a Wednesday night and the Blues will be looking to improve their record that has seen them win three of the past five series.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2023 Ampol State of Origin series with prices starting as little as $84 for single tickets or $265 for families, with The Star Blatchys Blues fans receiving a pack which includes a t-shirt and the iconic blue wig.
