The NSW Under 19s men’s and women’s teams will be out to defend their titles when the Under 19s State of Origin matches are held in Redcliffe next month.
Tickets are now on sale for the double-header at Kayo Stadium on Thursday 13 July – the day after Game Three of the Ampol State of Origin series in Sydney – with the Under 19s women’s match to be played ahead of the Under 19s men’s match. Both games will be broadcast on Channel Nine and Fox Sports.
True Blue Andrew Ryan will return as coach of the NSW Under 19s men’s team, having coached them to victory last year, while Kate Mullally, who is an assistant coach for the Harvey Norman NSW Sky Blues, has been appointed coach of the NSW Under 19s women’s team. Both teams are yet to be named.
The NSW Under 19s men’s team will feature players from the Jersey Flegg Cup (Under 21s) and SG Ball Cup (Under 19s), while the Under 19s women’s team will consist of players from the Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup (Under 19s).
The pathways Origin games made a return to the Rugby League calendar last year after the COVID-19 pandemic had impacted the previous two seasons.
The NSW Under 19s men’s team scored an emphatic 32-4 win with halfback Jonah Pezet, centre Paul Alamoti and forwards Brandon Tumeth, Trey Mooney and Toby Couchman all playing NRL this season.
The NSW Under 19s Women’s team are unbeaten since the concept started in 2019 with the Harvey Norman NSW Tarsha Gale Cup proving a valuable pathway for the representative team.
