Harmony 9s tournament returns in 2023

The NSWRL Harmony 9s tournament is back in 2023, celebrating culture and diversity through the great game of Rugby League.

Registrations are open now and players are encouraged to sign up before they close on Tuesday 3 October.

This two-day multicultural Rugby League event will be held at the Croome Road Sporting Complex, Albion Park on the 14-15 October.

The competition has a range of age groups competing from Under 16s, Under 18s and Opens for both male and female participants.

This year an Open Mixed League Tag competition has been introduced.

Several countries will be represented including Ukraine, Thailand, Chile, South Sudan, Philippines, Malta, Syria, Macedonia and Cambodia.

All teams will play games in the nine-a-side format at the event, with cultural celebrations from each nation to also take place across the weekend.

This event is designed to broaden participation base and display diversity within our game, coming together through Rugby League. The tournament will host up to 1000 participants from various Heritage and All Abilities Clubs.

“Harmony Nines 2023 promises to be a remarkable tournament,” Heritage Rugby League NSW President Javed Hamidi said.

“Heritage Rugby League is thrilled to see enthusiastic interest from heritage teams and players, and we are looking forward to an exciting festival of football and a wonderful celebration of culture.”

The Harmony Nines NSW began in 2009 with the aim of increasing Rugby League participation in multicultural communities across the state, as well as encouraging stronger understanding and harmony through Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) groups.
