Penrith’s prolific try-scoring winger from The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup, Tom Jenkins, has signed a two-year deal with the Newcastle Knights.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed three seasons with the Panthers scoring 40 tries in 49 NSW Cup games.
Jenkins scored 20 of those tries in the 2022 Premiership-winning season for Penrith’s NSW Cup team, but missed the 29-22 Grand Final win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs through injury.
Jenkins has played six NRL games – his debut match in 2022 and five appearances in 2023. But his ability to cross the try-line hasn’t diminished when he moves up to first grade, scoring five tries in his five games this year.
Knights Football Manager and former Westpac NSW Blues team manager Peter Parr, said the Hunter club’s back line was bolstered with Jenkins’ signature.
“We see Tom as a long term NRL player and we are thankful he chose the Knights,” Parr told newcastleknights.com.au
“He has a skill-set we believe complements our style of play and will add valuable depth to our outside backs.”
Jenkins will begin Knights pre-season training and club commitments on Thursday 23 November.
