Sky Blues back rower Olivia Kernick has committed to the Sydney Roosters for another two years, which means the international rep player will remain at the club until 2025.
Since making her NRLW debut for the Tricolours in 2022 – during the 2021 delayed season – Kernick has made 23 appearances, playing a pivotal role in the Roosters 2021 Grand Final victory over St George Illawarra (16-4).
In 2023, Kernick featured in all 10 games for the Roosters, making five line breaks, eight line-break assists, seven offloads and 260 tackles.
Kernick has been named Dally M Second Rower of the Year in consecutive seasons (2022 and 2023).
The 22-year-old has represented the Sky Blues on three occasions since making her debut in 2022 along with representing the Jillaroos at the 2022 Women’s World Cup and most recently in the Women’s Pacific Championships.
Due to her dual heritage Kernick has also represented both the Indigenous and Māori All Stars teams, representing the Indigenous All Stars in 2021, before aligning with the Māori’s All Star team for 2022 and 2023.
The Wyong Roos junior featured for the Central Coast Roosters in the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership in 2023.
Becoming one of the premier back rowers in the NRLW, Kernick has made a name for herself within the game and continues to impress those around her.
“Olivia has been a part of our squad for a few years now,” Roosters NRLW Head Coach John Strange told roosters.com.au.
“In terms of dedication and commitment to the team she is right up there.
“It is great to have her locked in for the coming years.”
