Clayton Faulalo is living ‘every kid’s dream job ’ as he looks to build on a memorable 2023 breakout season.
Faulalo was a revelation for the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles in the NSW Cup scoring 29 tries in 24 games to finish as the competition’s leading try scorer.
His impressive form helped Blacktown Workers qualify for their first NSW Cup finals appearance since the formation of the 2017 partnership with the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.
The 23-year-old was recognised for his superb efforts by taking out the Players’ Player award for the Blacktown Workers.
His outstanding season was capped off with a two-year deal with Manly, with the Sea Eagles well aware of the untapped potential in a player who is just as dangerous at full-back, wing and centre.
Now a member of the NRL full-time squad, Faulalo will go into Manly’s top 30 in 2025.
“It’s just been awesome. It is every kid’s dream job,’’ Faulalo said of his first pre-season at Brookvale.
“You get the chance to work on your craft to not only become a better footy player but also a better person as well. I've already leant so much about the Manly culture.”
Being a new addition to the NRL squad, Faulalo was one of several players who undertook the gruelling Manly Mentality Camp prior to Christmas.
“It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. You just had to keep pushing through as no-one wanted to let each other down,’’ Faulalo added.
“It was early mornings starts, very little sleep, and long days. It was so demanding on our bodies, but we all stuck together and got through it as a group, which was awesome.
“What I achieved last year only makes me want more. I want to keep chasing and build a name for myself.
"I want to see how far this great game can take me. But it all comes down to consistency and that’s one of my main goals this season.
“I’m looking forward to the NRL trials (in February). I just want to take everything I’ve learnt in the pre-season at Manly with me onto the field to see how I go at that level.
“I honestly don’t mind what position I play. If I’m on the field, then I’m happy.”
