#RESPECT Round returns in 2024

The NSWRL 2024 #RESPECT Round will be held on the weekend of 4-5 May with this year’s theme focussing on ‘Words Have Power’ to remind more than 130,000 players, officials, volunteers, and spectators the importance of promoting a positive Rugby League environment.

The NSWRL encourages all 700 Community Rugby League clubs across the state to take the #RESPECT pledge to help raise awareness around the effect positive and negative comments can have on the enjoyment of participants.

When taking the pledge, individuals acknowledge the following:

  • I pledge that I can create an inclusive, diverse, and supportive environment for all with the words that I use;
  • I pledge to always use positive language that encourages, includes, and inspires all participants;
  • I pledge to refrain from using derogatory, disrespectful, hateful, offensive, or discriminatory words in all Rugby League environments;
  • I pledge to report to my club, the League or NSWRL any incidents of derogatory, disrespectful, hateful, offensive, or discriminatory language that I hear.

This year the top three clubs with the highest number of pledges (based on the percentage of memberships) will be awarded prizes, with the winner to be presented with the 2024 Danielle Kifooti #RESPECT Award.

The top three clubs will win one of the following prizes:

  • A visit from Westpac NSW Blues Coach Michael Maguire and / or Westpac Sky Blues Coach Kylie Hilder along with True Blue Ambassadors.
  • A $1000 Steeden voucher.
  • A signed Westpac NSW Blues State of Origin jersey.

The #RESPECT campaign started in 2016 with 16,000 pledges and continues to grow and get bigger each year aligning with the NSWRL’s vision to eliminate poor behaviour and promote a positive environment for all players, coaches, referees, volunteers, and families.
