Origin raffle to benefit NSWRL mental fitness program

The Westpac NSW Blues and Sky Blues are calling on all fans attending the 2024 Ampol State of Origin matches in Sydney and Newcastle this week to unite in raising funds to support the NSWRL mental fitness Changing Rooms Program.

The NSWRL has partnered with ‘50-50 Raffle’ to raise funds for the much-needed Changing Rooms Program, run by True Blue Paul Langmack, which was delivered to more than 5500 Junior Rugby League participants last year.

The 50-50 Raffle volunteers will sell tickets at Accor Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park on Wednesday and Newcastle’s McDonald Jones Stadium on Thursday in the first half of both the men’s and women’s State of Origin matches with the winner and NSWRL sharing the proceeds.

“This is a great initiative and offers a really simple way for people to support a very serious and important issue impacting so many people not just in our Rugby League family, but the community in general,” Langmack said.

“I would love to almost double our program reach this year and get to 10,000 of our members, but we can’t do that without the support of registered fundraising initiatives like this.

“I hope all Rugby League supporters will get behind it, no matter who they are cheering for.”

The Changing Rooms Program is designed to educate and provide support to the NSWRL community in dealing with their mental fitness and wellbeing, with a particular focus on boys and girls aged 11 to 20 years.

It is facilitated by NSWRL in partnership with industry-accredited presenters and is conducted before training in the club’s dressing rooms or school classroom.

The topics covered include: defining an improving mental fitness; bullying; depression and anxiety; suicide prevention; and addictions.
