Game Changer program comes to NSWRL

Westpac NSW Sky Blues Millie Elliott and Keeley Davis will deliver a five-week Game Changer Program at the NSWRL’s headquarters at Sydney Olympic Park next week to continue their work building confidence and better overall health for people with a disability.

Each Tuesday from 30 July (see full schedule below) Elliott will spend two hours with participants to discuss subjects like goal-setting, nutrition, and social interaction.

Elliott, who has a sister with Down Syndrome, set up the program two years ago under the Trainer Group Foundation as a registered non-profit organisation providing inclusion and accessibility workshops for people with a disability.

“Game Changer provides participants an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends in a safe space,” Elliott said.

“Sport is such a great connector – it brings our groups together as a team and we then work on building confidence, resilience and improving our overall health – plus we have a lot of fun while doing it.

“When we started Trainer Group Foundation a couple of years ago we wanted education to be the cornerstone of what we do, and it has been.

“The feedback we have received from not just participants but their support workers, families and clinicians has been overwhelming.

"It is making a difference to people’s lives, which is really impactful.”

This year Westpac, partner of the NSW Blues and NSW Sky Blues, has come on board as an official supporter to ensure the programs are delivered free-of-charge and available to everyone.

“Our next program starts on 30 July and runs over five consecutive Tuesdays at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence, which will be an amazing experience for our participants, walking the halls of their favourite State of Origin players,” Elliott said.

The five-week schedule is:

  • Tuesday 30 July 2024, 10am-12pm
  • Tuesday 6 August 2024, 10am-12pm
  • Tuesday 13 August 2024, 10am-12pm
  •  Tuesday 20 August 2024, 10am-12pm
