Panthers and Cleary in line for prestigious NSW Sports awards

Penrith Panthers have the chance to make it three wins in a row at the 2024 NSW Sports Awards in November after they were announced as one of the finalists for the Gallagher Team of the Year category.

Panthers have collected that award in both 2022 and 2023 and could make it a triple celebration at the prestigious NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony at The Star Event Centre in Sydney on Monday 25 November.

It would be another honour for the club in a successful 2024 after they collected their fourth consecutive NRL Telstra Premiership trophy in October beating Melbourne Storm 14-6.

The four other finalists for best team are the national champions open male boat crew from Bulli Surf Life Saving Club, the Central Coast Mariners A-League side, NSW Waratahs women’s rugby union team, and Olympic sailors Olivia Price and Evie Haseldine.

Alongside the Penrith team, NSWRL also nominated Panthers mentor Ivan Cleary for the Coach of the Year award. He has been named as one of six finalists, who have come from whitewater paddling, athletics, BMX racing, swimming and water polo.

The 2024 NSW Sports Awards are the highest sports honours in NSW with 64 finalists in 12 categories to celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations over the past 12 months.

Sport NSW CEO Stuart Hodge congratulated all the finalists for such a high standard of performances.

“An Olympic and Paralympic year inspires everyone to aim high and chase their dreams whether they are an athlete, coach, official or administrator,” he said.
