Gwen Swann is your typical hard-running centre, who scored eight tries from eight games for Mounties in the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership in 2024.
She was key for Mounties – the defending Women’s Premiership champions – making it back to the finals this season after her side were two spots outside the top four after six rounds.
Mounties won three straight to end the regular season and force themselves into third place and a Semi-final.
Swann played her part with a double in the 28-24 win over the Central Coast Roosters in Round Nine, another try in the 16-12 win over Parramatta Eels in Round 10, and then a second double in the 34-14 win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Round 11.
Unfortunately, Mounties lost their Semi-final 30-16 to eventual 2024 premiers Illawarra Steelers, although Swann was among the try scorers again.
Swann won the 2024 Terry Miller Female Leading Try Scorer at Mounties presentation night.
Some of Swann’s strength might have come from playing back row earlier in her career. She wore the No.12 playing for NSW Emerging Country at the 2023 Harvey Norman National Women’s Championships.
She also played in the second row for Macarthur Wests Tigers in NSWRL’s 2023 Women’s Country Championships.
She has completed the RISE development program and has played Heritage Rugby League Nines for both Samoa and Ozzy Cook Islands.
