The NSWRL is pleased to announce that iconic sporting venues GIO Stadium in Canberra and Leichhardt Oval in Sydney’s inner west will host the Grand Finals for metropolitan and regional junior representative competitions in 2025.
GIO Stadium will host the NSWRL Regional Representatives Grand Final Day on Saturday 29 March which will showcase the best young talent and open age players from around regional NSW.
Five deciders will be played including the SLE Andrew Johns Cup (Under 16s Boys), Westpac Lisa Fiaola Cup (Under 17s Girls), SLE Laurie Daley Cup (Under 18s Boys), Women’s Country Championships (Open Age) and the Men’s Country Championships (Open Age).
Leichhardt Oval will be the venue for the metropolitan Junior Representatives Grand Final on Saturday 3 May with the deciders for the Westpac Lisa Fiaola Cup (Under 17s Girls), UNE Harold Matthews Cup (Under 17s Boys), Westpac Tarsha Gale Cup (Under 19s Women) and UNE SG Ball Cup (Under 19s Men).
“Our Junior Representatives competitions provide an important pathway for any aspiring Rugby League player around the state and there have been plenty who have gone on to enjoy professional careers,” NSWRL Head of Competitions Yvette Downey said.
“Both the Regional Representatives Competitions and the metropolitan Junior Representatives Competitions showcase the best, young talent from all around NSW and the Grand Finals have produced plenty of memorable storylines in recent seasons.”
Canberra Chief Executive Don Furner said: “GIO Stadium has been home to the Canberra Raiders since 1990.
“We see ourselves as the NRL's regional club and it is fitting that our home ground has been chosen to host the 2025 NSWRL Regional Representatives Grand Final Day.
“The ground has already witnessed plenty of great sporting moments and I am sure that trend will continue for the teams that line up for this important tournament.”
