NSWRL’s annual #RESPECT Round returns for 2025 and will be a month-long campaign starting 12-13 April with this year’s theme focusing on ‘Words Have Power’ to remind all players, coaches, volunteers, and spectators of the importance of a supportive Rugby League environment.

The NSW Rugby League encourages all 700 Community Rugby League clubs across the state to again take the #RESPECT pledge to generate a positive impact within their communities.

For the 2025 #RESPECT Round, clubs will be asked to take the pledge and in 25 words of less state what impact positive words have on their team culture.

When taking the pledge, individuals acknowledge:

  • I can create an inclusive, diverse and supportive environment for all with the words I use.
  • I will endeavour to always use positive language that encourages, includes and inspires all participants.
  • I will refrain from using derogatory, hateful, offensive or discriminatory words in all Rugby League environments.
  • I will report to my club, the League or NSWRL any incidents of derogatory, disrespectful, hateful, offensive or discriminatory language that I hear.

This year the top three clubs (based on the responses from the pledge) will be awarded prizes, with the winner being honoured with the 2025 Danielle Kifooti #RESPECT Award, named after the late NSWRL club support employee who started the campaign nine years ago.

The top three clubs, to be announced at the end of the campaign on 23 May, will win one of the following prizes:

  • Westpac NSW Blues signed jersey and opportunity for the club’s nominated team to attend the traditional Captain’s Run
  • $1000 Steeden voucher
  • $500 adidas voucher

The #RESPECT campaign started in 2016 and continues to grow each year aligning with the NSWRL’s vision to eliminate poor behaviour and promote a positive environment for all players, coaches, referees, volunteers and families.
