True Blue Zac Lomax says he’s doing everything to lift Parramatta Eels to some wins as a by-product of good club football will be a Westpac NSW Blues jersey.
Lomax told Channel Nine’s ‘100% Footy’ program that while he was giving his all for the Eels he also had “one eye on” the upcoming Ampol State of Origin series starting with Game One at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on 28 May.
“Absolutely. I’d be lying to you if I told you I wasn’t thinking about it,” Lomax said.
“At the start of every year that’s the goal I set. I want to play Origin… there’s nothing like playing Origin footy.
“I set my eyes on that goal. I want to be able to be the best teammate I can at the Eels to put myself back in that situation to put on the (Blues) jersey again.
“That comes with wins at club footy. I just have to keep building my game there as I really want to pull on that rep jersey again.”
Lomax made his NSW debut in Game One last year and played all three matches scoring three tries and kicking eight goals in the Blues’ 2-1 series win.
The former St George Illawarra Dragons outside back made the switch to Parramatta for the 2025 season playing all four rounds without a win. He faces his former club this Saturday 5 April at CommBank Stadium.
“For us it’s just about getting those finer details right, getting the combinations right,” Lomax told Channel Nine.
“We’re learning, but we’re learning the hard way. It’s about icing those opportunities we get.
“We’ve just got to get the job done. We’ve got the Dragons and we’re back at home so we need the win for sure.”
Lomax said that Eels halfback and NSW Blues teammate Mitch Moses was key in his decision to switch clubs.
“He was a massive reason why I signed there,” Lomax said.
“I was grateful I got to play a fair bit of footy with him during the rep period last year.
“It was definitely disappointing when he went down (foot injury) before Round One, it’s obviously been a big hole for us that we’ve had to fill.
“We’ve got to get as many wins in before he comes back as he’ll be a massive boost for us.”
