The Baradine Sportsground will be the venue for the 2025 Christie and Hood Castlereagh League season, when the Baradine Magpies host the annual League Tag Knockout this weekend (Saturday 5 April).

All 10 clubs will be in action with the first game kicking off at 11.00am as the home team faces last year’s grand finalists, the Coolah Kangaroos.

It's a match that will create a lot of interest by setting the scene for what will be a jam-packed day of 14 games, culminating with the final scheduled for 3.40pm.

The Warren Bulldogs, in what is their comeback season after a seven-year absence, will have their first official Castlereagh League outing against Coonamble Bears at 12.00pm.

Then the Narromine Jets (pictured above) will begin their 2024 premiership defence when they take to the field at 12.20pm lining up against the Gulgong Bull Terriers.

They will be hoping to repeat their effort from last year when they commenced their winning campaign by taking home the knockout shield.

Castlereagh League Chairman Chris Deighton said it would be good to get the 2025 season underway.

“It looks like another great year for the Castlereagh competition, and it is always great to see the knockouts roll around each year because they signal that the kick-off to the competition proper is not far away,” Deighton said.

In fact, the first round of the competition is set down for Saturday 26 April, but the knockout action will continue on 12 April, when Warren’s Victoria Park complex will be the venue for the Christie and Hood Castlereagh League senior rugby league knockout.

There will be no games over the Easter break.

The 10 teams in Saturday's League Tag knockout are: Baradine Magpies, Cobar Roosters, Coolah Kangaroos, Coonabarabran Unicorns, Coonamble Bears, Dunedoo Swanettes, Gilgandra Pink Panthers, Gulgong Bull Terriers, Narromine Jets, Warren Bulldogs.
