Westpac NSW Blues front-rower Payne Haas has won his first Rugby League Players Association (RLPA) Player of the Month award, as voted by his fellow NRL players.

The Brisbane Broncos mainstay won for his football during March this year, after being nominated in May 2023 for the award but missing out to True Blue and South Sydney Rabbitohs five-eighth Cody Walker.

The two other nominees for March were Rabbitohs fullback Jye Gray and Wests Tigers prop Terrell May.

But Haas’ statistics for the four NRL games in March were impressive as he averaged 34 tackles and 175 run metres per match.

That sits alongside 17 offloads and 27 tackle-breaks and few will forget his memorable solo try in the 71st minute of the Broncos 26-16 win over the North Queensland Cowboys (Round Three).

He collected the ball on the 30-metre line and ran straight through the defensive line untouched for his first try of 2025 and only the 11th of his career.

His efforts earned him the Carl Webb Medal on the night in honour of the late forward, who played a total of 182 NRL games for both clubs.

Haas has played for NSW 14 times and has been a part of three Ampol State of Origin series wins in 2019, 2021 and 2024.
